The ICRS was formally incorporated as a scientific research society in 1992. Prior to that, Symposia were organized by various researchers in the field since 1970. Membership in the Society has risen from 50 original members in its first year to nearly 500 members from all over the world.

The ICRS Board of Directors is made up entirely of duly elected and/or appointed Regular Members of the ICRS organization. Term limits are as defined in the ICRS By Laws. Any and all Members-in-Good-Standing of the International Cannabinoid Research Society are eligible for nomination to the Board of Directors. Upcoming elections will be posted here.
